The best restaurants

12/08/2025: I made a reservation online and unfortunately I made a mistake and it was not confirmed. The effort was immediately reflected on the credit card which I showed to the person in charge. She turned us away with a smile. In my country, because hospitality is considered quite important, I would have expected her to have made an effort to serve us. It doesn't matter. All I can say right away is that the shop, being quite small and claustrophobic, black in color, had a stifling atmosphere with a strong smell of roast meat. You leave smoky. Maybe the food compensates. I won't know. Be well. -"Comment to the owner's response" - Dear, the one star is for your behavior and the stifling atmosphere. Not for food that I didn't have the "honor" to try. I mentioned it anyway. The fact that you respond regardless of what I write and insult me on top of that shows who you are. I attended today with a group of 5 people for dinner. I did not deprive you of money. I had heard the best things about your restaurant. You summarily kicked us out. I showed the Visa charge that seemed to indicate that there had been an attempt on my part to make a reservation. Instead, there was no attempt on your part to provide service. Be well and I have indeed learned my lesson... Again, I wish you the best!

14/08/2025: One of the better places to sit down and eat breakfast in Tallaght. I tried the traditional Irish breakfast: everything was freshly prepared and very juicy, not like a buffet where you get dry or reheated food. The coffee was strong and freshly ground, and there were many other options on the menu that I would have liked to try. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

28/10/2025: We had a lovely experience in this restaurant. The place is well-located in the heart of the town. It is very spacious but it does not compromise the cozy vibe the restaurant gives. The breakfast we ordered was absolutely divine (those rashers were amazing!) Last but not least, the staff were just so friendly. We were just happily eating all the way. Definitely coming back!

16/09/2025: This is a lovely location; however, it feels so small and cottage-like that it’s hard to imagine choosing it as a place to stay for locals. There isn’t much to do. We didn’t stay overnight but visited the spa and explored the dining options instead. The estate itself is beautiful, with some charming touches and an interesting sense of history. The food was very good, artisan in style and tasting wonderfully fresh. The spa, on the other hand, was just okay. It lacked warmth and attention to detail, and it wasn’t particularly clean. Strangely, the spa felt more like visiting a shop than a place for pampering. It didn’t have the ambiance you’d expect from an upscale spa. No drinks were offered before or after the treatments either. Overall, there’s a big piece of hospitality missing here: client service. None of the staff around seemed to really care about anything.

13/09/2025: An Oasis of peace and tranquility set in the wonderful Co Kildare. Every member of staff from the young lady on reception to the lad who showed us to our accommodation were incredibly kind and are a credit to the Hotel. Our dinner at the Mill restaurant was exquisite and the young servers were attentive, genuinely ensuring we enjoyed our experience. Breakfast was equally amazing. We stayed at a cottage which was simply "wow". Our two night stay exceeded our expectations and we cannot wait to return.

19/10/2025: I had been here before and loved it so came back on my most recent trip. We both had the French toast with bacon added extra which was very tasty, but we felt the cost of the bacon was a bit expensive considering I got one slice, though my husband got two so maybe mine was an oversight. We left feeling a bit hungry still. We would come back, but would probably stick to a full Irish or one of the baps to get our money's worth. No wait, efficient service and friendly staff.

19/10/2025: We went there for breakfast and quickly realized it’s a popular spot. We waited in line for about 15–20 minutes, but got seated inside and had time to look through the menu. Once we got our table, the food was excellent. The pulled pork Benedict was something new for me (I usually go for salmon), but it turned out to be a great choice.

02/11/2025: Unpleasant experience last night at La Gordita for my birthday. We arrived on time and were seated at the bar. The staff were chatting with the two couples next to us, explaining the menu and taking their drinks orders. By the time our waiter came over, their food was already arriving. No one explained the menu to us, and the waiter seemed a bit sniffy when we ordered a cheap bottle of wine. The food itself was average. The crab salad was a highlight, but the garlic in the prawns was burnt and the Spanish omelette wasn’t a proper tortilla it was just a flat omelette topped with slices of potato and chorizo. Generally boring flavours and small portions. Staff checked in with the tables around us as they got their food - but not with us. After finishing the tapas we’d ordered, we were still hungry. When the waiter asked if we’d had enough and we said no, he just handed us the dessert menu and said “great.” We ended up leaving after about an hour - no dessert - and felt like just getting our coats back was asking too much. Not sure if it was because we looked young or like tourists, but the service felt frosty and unwelcoming. The host did check in once and the lady who took over the bill was nice, but overall the experience was disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend this place for a special occasion. I’d be really annoyed if I’d booked it expecting a treat based on the Michelin guide. We spent €140 on five tapas dishes, were largely ignored and left hungry. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

06/09/2025: On my last Friday night in Ireland, I arrived alone at JH & Sons to a large crowd both inside and out. I ordered a Guinness and found a spot to sit around back where there were three groups enjoying drinks and lively banter. Feeling somewhat out of place, I relocated to a stool at the end of one of two bars, next to where patrons were ordering drinks. I ordered a Beamish and occasionally engaged in brief conversation with those waiting on their drinks. The beers were exceptionally fresh and delicious. The crowd was expectedly boisterous and loud and the bartenders were quite busy. Rising above the din of the crowd was the recurrent laughter of assumably drunken female clientel - earily remiscent of the Wicked Witch of the West leaving on her broom. I was enjoying myself up until it was time for me to order my third pint. I had decided that I would have a Murphy's to complete my comparison of available Irish stouts. I don't quite know why, but I found it impossible to get the attention of either of the female bartenders. Patrons to my left and right were being served, but the bartenders chose to ignore me, and would not even make eye contact. I started to wonder what I had done to put them off. Was it my thick Brooklyn accent, or was it my NHL NY Rangers t-shirt? After what seemed like an eternity (15-20 min), a third bartender came over from the other bar and took my order. I drank my Murphy's (my favorite of the three) and left with the feeling that I was unwelcome.
