The best restaurants

18/12/2024: My husband and I got married in Newbay House in October 2023 and we still speak about how fabulous it was as a venue. Maria and her team were beyond accommodating. The food was fantastic, the house and grounds looked stunning and everybody working there were so kind on the day. And the bridal sweet is stunning! In the weeks and months leading up to our wedding day, there was never an issue with getting in touch to get clarification on details, and Maria always had great suggestions for us. If you're thinking about getting married in Newbay House, you won't be disappointed. I'm so grateful to everybody at Newbay for making our day so wonderful.

02/12/2024: We cannot recommend and thank the staff of Newbay enough. We first visited Newbay as a newly engaged couple back in 2020 at one of their first open days. We immediately fell in love with the venue, grounds and staff. Then came Covid and the start of our family. From day one Maria has been so accommodating, changing our date not once but three times to suit our growing family. We never once waived in our choice knowing it was the place for us. In the lead up to the big day Maria, Rachel and Paul made our planning process so easy and personal. Rachel understood our vision and made vendor suggestions to suit even picking out the perfect tree to grab some special photos. Paul was so accommodating with the menu and the food is still one of the highlights of the day. Guests still comment on how amazing the canapés, meal, night bites and breakfast were. The day itself could not have gone any better with Tracie on hand to keep the Groom calm and a refreshing beverage to hand to relax the new married couple. We are truly sad the day is over and cannot recommend the team at Newbay and venue enough. We wanted a personal and calm day and we got exactly what we asked for. Every detail was perfect and just how we wanted and that is all down to Maria and the wonderful team. To all the team at Newbay thank you so much for making our special day come to life.

12/03/2025: Class pub with a great pint of Guinness, we always make sure to visit when back in Roscommon.

04/12/2024: Did a two hour drive just to come to here and watch a match and the whole place was just spectacular. Drinks were amazing, pool table was cheaper than most places, staff were excellent and super friendly and on top of it all, they played more than one match on the tvs. This is by far the best pub I’ve ever been to

22/04/2025: Llegamos a Kenmare y nos alegramos de nuestro be&be recomendado Casey's. La comida era deliciosa. Mi amigo tenía la suela negra y todavía está delirando al respecto. Tenía el Korma que era perfecto. Y encantado de descubrir que los propietarios tienen familia en Boston! Recomiendo encarecidamente una parada en Casey's!

22/02/2025: We had a lovely meal here while staying at the hotel. Our meal was delicious, and the service was friendly and fast. As you can see from the photos, I really enjoyed the pork ribs :-)

25/04/2025: Welcoming, well-located B&B. Clean and cozy rooms. Charming host, full of stories and advice. Good food at the restaurant. Highly recommended!

17/04/2025: The Anvil Bar consists of a hotel, restaurant, an outdoor area with billiards table and a bar. The stay in the rooms was very pleasant. There is a fresh, authentic Irish breakfast every morning and a variety of Irish dishes in the restaurant. The shop is mainly run by a lady who is very helpful and friendly. For example, she put together an entire daily plan for us with highlights from the region and taught us a little original Irish. I can definitely recommend a stay!

26/01/2025: Clean, variety and valu...great staff. Fresh produce, self service Check out so no waiting, and helpful friendly staff, There is also a lovely cafe, food is yum. Cafe was our savior after the storm, no power at home so it was a haven and food freshly cooked and delicious.

23/01/2025: Stopped while passing through Loughrea it was my first time in the store. Very impressive layout bright and clean. Ended up doing a bigger shop than intended. Bought some of the prepack chicken and veg and lasagne and fish pie all of which have been used and enjoyed. Would consider stopping again when passing

18/04/2025: Delicious. Visiting from US and had some great pub food but was craving something else and a glass of wine. This hit the spot! Lucia and Isma were very attentive and excellent

16/04/2025: I went to this restaurant twice this week with my sister. The food is exceptional but the staff are amazing. Lucia was looking after us and she was the warmest, friendliest girl I have ever met. She was brilliant with her knowledge and recommendations of the food and gorgeous wines, nothing was too much trouble for her. Lucia makes you feel so welcome from the second you come through the door. The food was so fresh and absolutely delicious, we are both vegetarian and the menu was full of choices to suit. We will be back regularly to this gorgeous hidden gem, highly recommend. Thanks Lucia, from Sharon and Jennifer x

16/02/2025: Spent a night away in Tulfarris and had a lovely experience. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel is well kept. We were pleasantly surprised by the food in the restaurant. Prepared to a high standard and extremely delicious, with kind and attentive staff.

15/02/2025: We had a lovely big ground floor room looking out over the golf course. Clean, comfortable and good facilities in bathroom except for lighting in bathroom which was dull and lighting over bed made it impossible to read your book in bed! Upstairs restaurant was wonderful- great food, great service and lovely ambience. Nice bar with music that wasn't over powering. I was disappointed by the hotel only offering a buffet breakfast. It meant everything was lukewarm warm and by putting it onto a cold plate, then waiting to make your own toast, it ensured you got a cold breakfast. Ugh! Plus they charged extra if you wanted an Americano instead of filter which seems ridiculous as the machine is right there! I could have pressed the buttons myself! The queue for breakfast at the buffet was long and painful and I think a hotel of this quality can do better. This alone would put me off returning. At least offer the option of an a la carte menu. Otherwise, this is a great hotel in a lovely location.

13/04/2025: Fabulous food and service. €38 for tempura and seafood batter fish & chips and a chowder, plus a pint and half of Guinness. Free EV charging if you have a meal.

12/04/2025: A very cozy restaurant where we enjoyed delicious espresso and Irish coffee as well as the most delicious brownie and carrot cake. It was a poetry of taste and the atmosphere overlooking the ocean made us not want to leave there.

16/04/2025: The dinner was good and the food was delicious. The portions of pasta are small if you plan to take only the main course. The staff is friendly. But there was an unpleasant situation with the tip and the total bill. The tip is calculated automatically and included in the bill, despite the customer's consent. This was not mentioned anywhere. So there is no option to choose the amount. So we had an unwelcome surprise at the end. We were forced to pay (15% of the check for three people). When I asked why we had to pay, the manager said that the policy had been changed and that it was necessary to pay extra for 3 or more people, although it used to apply to groups of more than 8. It looked like we were being played for fools. This is not the first time this has happened. We’ve been here to celebrate birthday. Then our cake was taken to another table without even informing us. When we refused to pay a tip because of this situation, we argued for a very long time. This situation made me remember why I stopped going to this restaurant. I personally have a lot of experience in the service industry and hospitality , so I know what I'm talking about and that's why I'm writing about it. I have nothing against good work and gratitude for it. It's just that things like mandatory tipping (which is not common in Dublin restaurants) should be stated up front and not come as an unpleasant surprise, especially at small tables that don't require additional resources to clean. I am very disappointed, this kind of situation makes me not want to come back.

15/04/2025: Erica & Dennis ( yes ….Dennis the Italian) were just so friendly , helpful and provided great service. The food is fantastic and this place is highly recommended. Worth popping into toners for a pint too

05/04/2025: I’d be wax lyrical about this restaurant. The food was absolutely top notch in terms of flavour and quality. The value was unbelievable aswell for such high end cuisine. It made my day having such an amazing meal.

14/02/2025: Perfect from start to finish as I should have liked to have stood and clapped in appreciation after I reluctantly finished my delicious dessert . A dining experience at a top level. Bravo
