Smyth's Bar

29/03/2026: Once again, over and over again, day after day, there's just not enough stars for all these pubs, walked down to Smyth's last night for a feed, and " need I say anymore? just wonderful... great food, great staff, great beers, great locals,, " take a bow you guys... 👍🍀🍺😊
18/02/2026: Visited Sept 2025 and again recently Feb 2026 from Australia. Food and service is top notch. Best caesar salad I've ever tasted and I've have a few over my years. Staff friendly and warm, authentic Irish atmosphere. A must when visiting Ballinamore

The Coffee Pot
17/05/2026: Too expensive for the quality and taste. Paid 25 euros for 2 coffees and two small pastries.
Felt like a tourist trap.
14/05/2026: Stopped for cappuccinos and pie after our hike. Lovely, helpful people and delicious pie and coffee. Thank you for the hospitality.

Cafe Roscoe's
Galway
09/05/2026: Bad customer service. Very defensive and sarcastic tone when I asked for salad/ garnish with my takeaway sandwich( which I paid for).( The girl seemed to be the one in charge. Black curly hair with tatoos) Soup was very processed and u eatable. Girl making sandwiches was also handling menu which is not hygienic. I left there very disappointed.

Gus O'Connor's
16/06/2026: Special place alert !!!! 🚨
Went on a Friday. It looked quiet outside but wow Pandora’s box of pleasantries.
I will never know how the 2 adjacent rooms BOTH had musicians playing different music, but they were completely distinct and couldn’t be heard in the other room, despite no doors and a common bar. I don’t know what darn carpentry and materials the Irish used to make such a sound proof establishment. I will think about this forever.
I am also shocked that despite 2 bands playing - I had a full blown conversation with a very lovely and drunk Irish woman, where I didn’t scream ‘WHAAAAAAT’ even once. I could hear very well. I don’t know what acoustics in here fixed my sensorneuronal hearing loss, but it was so lovely to be able to chat at a reasonable decibel.
Summary: Really great spot. €6 Guinness for those doing trip research is the standard. Lively and much needed integration of the older generations, with Gen Z and millennials. Beautiful to see.
Oh also - big bathroom. Clean, I recon due to the elder clientele keeping a watchful eye. Not crowded, no wait. Hallelujah for this pub bathroom.
15/06/2026: A good classic Irish pub with a full bar, a Feb hardy beer options, and a mix of classic Irish pub fare and seafood dishes. The bartenders were nice, the place was busy. I didn't like that you have to order at the bar.

The Tankard
09/06/2026: We recently had a pre-wedding meal in The Tankard with 34 of our family and friends. The welcome we received, the kind and friendly staff and of course, delicious food were second to none. Couldn't recommend it more, a top class restaurant.
01/06/2026: Good selection of quality seafood and non sea food. Lovely sea view. Good table service.

The Driftwood
Rosses point
02/05/2026: Our one-night stay in room 6 was very pleasant. We did also enjoy the dinner at the restaurant — the burgers were decent, and the waterfront view was truly beautiful. The quirky artwork felt like a cherry on top.
30/04/2026: This review is about the Driftwood's restaurant/bar:
We had a light lunch here and sat outside with great views of Sligo Bay and Knocknarea in the distance. The sandwiches were delicious and the waiter deserved a medal for coping with a large group of hikers who arrived unannounced. During low season (up until the beginning of May), they only open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday. Highly recommended.

Fire Steakhouse & Bar
Dublin
19/05/2026: We have an annual lunch there every year for 130 people. It is always excellent with great staff and service. Lovely food and a fabulous space. It was originally built as the Lord Mayor's supper room (its beside the mansion house). The ceiling and stained glass windows are historic.
17/05/2026: Booking online is recommended. Very well located in a pleasant setting. Very reasonable prices. Warm welcome and attentive service.

Kimchi
Dublin
27/05/2026: I ate until I was full and satisfied. It's been a long time since I've had Korean food...
23/05/2026: We tried the dakgalbi, rabokki, and miso soup with sake. Everything was delicious, especially the dakgalbi paired with the miso soup. The rabokki was a bit too sweet for our taste, but the dakgalbi with miso soup is definitely something we would order again and again.

High Cafe
Galway
10/05/2026: Hidden gem. Best meal I've had in months. Do yourself a favor and go!
09/05/2026: Honestly incredible. All the dishes were delicious but the bread was to die for. They make the pita fresh to order so they come out steaming. Same with the garlic breads. Worth a visit just for the bread alone

Porterhouse
Killarney
13/06/2026: Great food (and really great mocktails) here. Was a bit disappointed with the service, as staff were more concerned with talking amongst themselves than trying at all to connect with guests.
12/06/2026: We had an awesome meal at this unique bar/pub/restaurant for our final night in Ireland. The inside is totally unique-all the seating is divided up into tiny rooms or booths so it feels VERY private and cozy. We had a view to the front street so also good people watching.
The menu has lots of inventive twists on the classic Irish pub menu. We started with the warm garlic bread with Brie and honey-delicious and sticky (bit they give you wet wipes). We also tried their version of a wedge salad which was fine but pales a bit when Compared to its American cousin. The real standout for uniqueness was the 7 oz filet served at the table on an 800 degree stone. It comes out seared in the kitchen on the stone so you can then finish it to your liking (hint: slice it to make things easier and faster). The steak came with several sides including patatas bravas, onion rings and more and at €46 was a decent deal.
We shared all the courses and it was plenty of food. The modest wine list has several by the glass options but no real standouts. Glasses come in Two sizes. I REALLY enjoyed the smoked old fashioned drink with earthy woodsmoke trapped then released from the glass at the table.
It’s a bit tough on the servers-the layout-as it is harder to keep an eye on your customers so expect service to feel a little off/leisurely.
A great time and a fun spot right in the heart of Killarney. Highly recommended.
