17/09/2026: Staff are pig Ignorant. Was ran much better by Dave Lang a true Gent of a man. New owners have turned it into a kiddy bar with obnoxious waiting staff.

16/09/2026: Easily the best food we’d had in all of Ireland! The decor was beautiful and stayed true to the history of the building which was written on a place card on the table. The lamb stew was out of this world and my husband loved his steak. We were lucky with the dessert of the day - lemon cheesecake with whipped cream and an ice cream scoop! It was a bit loud in there, but we came in at prime dinner time and there was live music playing which we specifically came for so no complaints there. The servers were friendly but hard to get ahold of, but again, it was peak hours and the place was packed so I can’t fault them at all. Highly recommend this place! It’s worth its price for sure!

09/09/2026: We arrived with our dog, who of course wasn't allowed in. I long for the day this changes in Ireland. We were kindly accommodated in outside seating. Had the chowder, was delicious and very filling. Gorgeous scone with it. Lovely spot.

09/09/2026: Sandwiches up from €7 to €8 overnight. That is a increase of 14%. Way over the inflation rate of 3.4%. And remember the vat rate was lowered to 9%. But, it seems RIP Off Ireland is doing well at Monasterboice Inn.

13/12/2025: We stopped in glengarriff for some breakfast and checked out a few different spots that we saw on Google maps. A few of them were closed so it came down to Sugarloaf Cafe or the lough afoul inn. A quick look at the lough inn's prices made us slowly back away, and as we were doing so the owner came out and called out some incoherent ramblings about soup and breakfast in quite a confrontational way. This, needless to say, converted our backing away into a swift shuffle into Sugarloaf Cafe. Best decision of the day! The lovely, cozy, friendly atmosphere made our morning. The service and food were outstanding but the star of the experience was the warm and welcoming owner who had us smiling and laughing throughout our meal! Despite having 3 tables to serve when we were there, she made time to make conversation with everyone and made us all feel comfortable. Combined with the far more reasonable pricing than the establishment over the road and this experience confirmed 2 repeat customers. If you're looking for a friendly relaxing dining experience in glengarriff the Sugarloaf Cafe is a must try!

04/08/2026: Where do we even begin? We got married at Hotel Doolin a few weeks ago and it was truly the most incredible day of our lives. A very special thank you to Niamh and Tracy. You both were simply amazing throughout the entire planning process and ensuring the day ran smoothly. We are so grateful for all the care, time, and attention you gave us. The day itself was absolutely flawless. Every single member of staff was warm, professional, and so attentive. We never once had to worry about a thing because everything ran so smoothly. It was clear how much effort goes on behind the scenes, and we’re incredibly thankful to every person who played a part in making our day so special. Our guests haven’t stopped talking about the wedding. The food has been the number one topic of conversation ever since! So many people have told us it’s the best wedding meal they’ve ever had, which says so much about the quality of the food and the incredible chefs. The service throughout the meal was exceptional, and everyone loved how generous the hospitality was, especially the free-flowing wine, which definitely kept the celebrations going! 10/05/2026: Absolutely beautiful spot. Divine baked goods and lovely drinks. A lovely dog friendly spot too - my dog was delighted with his pup cup!

09/07/2026: Really good food, I went with a group of 14 and all were extremely happy with their choices.

03/07/2026: A really cool bar where you can easily strike up a conversation and have fun. A very open and fun crowd, friendly and attentive staff. We had a great time. Reasonable drink prices.

14/08/2026: Very nice food, coffee and staff. They even gave me a new coffee when I went to the bathroom and they cleared my table! Very lovely place and nice friendly atmosphere.

12/09/2026: The service was very good and fast. The food wasn't good. I ordered the salmon with asparagus and couscous. Everything was completely bland. The portion was basically couscous and asparagus with salmon (since the portion of fish was tiny). The salads also lacked flavor, although the chicken that came with the salad was okay. I recommend the place only for a drink.

07/09/2026: Was there at night for drinks and the pace was hopping with a great atmosphere. Mostly a young crowd but fairly mixed. We went there the next day for lunch. I had the hake with cous cous. It was nice. My wife had the prawn pil pil and said it was delicious.
