The best restaurants

23/05/2025: A beautiful non-touristy Irish pub where you can relax. I had a couple of Guinness, beautiful atmosphere for about an hour and a half really very nice without the tourists.

22/05/2025: We did not have food so I cannot comment. We had some time to kill before Guinness and this place was right around the corner. Total regular vibe, almost 100% of the people were locals, cheap beer, cold cider and a hooting good time talking to a few of the older guys at the bar about the good times of locking. Dave the bartender was absolutely splendid. If I ever go back to Dublin, I would not set foot in Temple Bar again and bee line directly to here and in the Liberties. So much fun. Side note, bring 5 euro bills cash, and thank me later.

27/05/2025: We took a trip to Athlone to visit Thyme on a recommendation. Well worth it and we'll definitely be back. A lovely welcoming small dining room. Very friendly staff who are comfortable and confident speaking about the dishes. And what a meal. From start to finish it was beautifully presented but more importantly very very tasty. The halibut was fantastic. The sides amazing. And the price! They could easily charge more for that quality of food. What a treat. Thank you Thyme.

21/05/2025: We made a reservation because there was no room otherwise. We started with the seafood chowder and a ministrone, delicious. Then we tried the shepherd's pie (potato pie), and it was the best we've had so far! The vegetable salad was delicious. We had a still water and a lager. The service was very good and the quality was excellent. Highly recommended for delicious traditional Irish food!

04/05/2025: Me and my son who has asd were waiting for our bus home and when i arrived I went to the bar ordered a drink for both of us. We sat outside and I asked for another 15 minutes later as the barman was collecting glasses. He seemed in a terrible form. I needed to be there for my autistic son but I was told u know where the bar is. Sorry but it wouldn't have taken too much to put on my pint of Guinness and would have gone in when it was settled. BTW I was only having 2 as my bus was in half an hour. I don't know his name but management would want to keep an eye on it. My first ever negative review about a place but he's attitude was disgraceful

10/06/2025: Great restaurant, food with great flavor and quality, it only didn't get 5 stars because the table we sat at wasn't cozy, there were other options but we couldn't choose.

10/06/2025: Food was amazing, service the best around. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and they even brought out desert and a rose. Our server was Chris very accommodating and friendly will return for future celebrations.

13/05/2025: We went to try their IRISH STEW, purportedly the best in Salthill. Disappointed to be told upon entering that they’re not serving food! Great ambiance though. We’re going back after dinner.

12/06/2025: After kissing the Blarney Stone, my family and I worked up quite the appetite. Luckily the Muskerry Arms Bar was only down the street. Parking can be a bit tight since it's near a tourist attraction, and the traffic is always busy, so be aware. I was a little worried the food would be on the more bland side as I had experienced in other restaurants, but the food was absolutely delicious! It had all the right flavors and tasted like good home cooking. The beef stew was SO good and would be perfect for a cold, rainy day. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and salted to perfection. It was only made better by the stellar service. They were attentative, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. Whether you're making a stop here after visiting Blarney Castle or looking for a good local restaurant to try, you must stop by Muskerry Arms Bar! You won't regret it.

03/05/2025: I give it 4 stars because the pasta of the day that my partner ordered and the pizza is not that good. But the Carbonara pasta is the best in the world, it made me feel like I was in Italy. I will return for this pasta and to try their desserts.

20/05/2025: Almorzamos que disfrutamos, sin embargo no fue excepcional como habríamos esperado dadas sus dos estrellas Michelin. Los postres fueron muy decepcionantes, bastante ordinarios de hecho. Realmente no nos gustó leer el menú de bebidas en un IPad. En general fue bastante pretencioso y por debajo de la par.

14/05/2025: The food at this Michelin restaurant was simply outstanding — every dish was so delicious that there’s not much more to say; it really lived up to its reputation. However, the dessert didn’t quite impress me and felt like a step down compared to the rest of the meal. One thing that left a negative impression was the service. There was a man, possibly the manager, who was walking around and engaging warmly with customers at almost every table. Strangely, he skipped our table and another with young Asian couples, despite us making eye contact and there being a quiet moment. It felt uncomfortable and left us wondering whether we were being intentionally overlooked. For a place of this calibre, you expect warm, inclusive hospitality — and unfortunately, that part missed the mark.
