The best restaurants

12/10/2025: The most incredible, the most beautiful, and the warmest of all the pubs we discovered throughout our road trip in Ireland. This one is a true gem, the owner's former house, which is actually a series of small rooms worth visiting, each one retaining its old-world charm, with knick-knacks, a piano, an old desk, period photos, and more. A true gem ♥️

27/09/2025: Nice pub with a tavern and a few tables. The food was excellent. We'd happily return if we ever find ourselves in Ardara again.

04/10/2025: Wonderful French restaurant. Attention to detail as we had coffee across the street and could see them cleaning the lampshades! Food fantastic asked for a side green salad received a huge salad with lots of green beans and broccollini. Main - Venison Shank with Blackberry sauce, Dauphin potatoes, dessert Banoffee pie and Raspberry Chocolate Mousse, a bottle if white and 2 glasses each of Armanaq. Worth every penny. Returning for dinner!

16/10/2025: Hayfield manor exceeded above and beyond our expectations. Aoife at the front desk was extremely pleasant and friendly during our stay. Food, location , and spa were all top quality. We can't wait to return :)

19/09/2025: Above my expectations the pizza was super I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it probably the best pizza in Ennis.

18/09/2025: The pizzas were delicious. The rest of the menu looked good, but we didn't try anything else. The staff was very attentive. It's a shame we couldn't go back; the kitchen closes around 9 p.m.

10/10/2025: We stopped off here with our 2 dogs as its dog friendly. We had two delicious meals each and our dogs even got brought some sausages. The food, service and value here is absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend a visit.

06/10/2025: We stopped here for lunch last week, while you have to leave the M7 to get to Treacys, it is well worth it. There is a great selection of food, full lunches or sandwiches, whichever you're looking for, all lovely and well presented. We have stopped here before and will do so again in the future.

21/10/2025: Fab restaurant, cosy, inviting, real fire stove, soft lighting. Food excellent and chowder to die for. Lovely staff, great service. We were gravelly to a funeral in Fanad, Donegal so lovely to find a gem like this!

14/10/2025: What a fabulous find! We chanced upon this lovely bistro by chance and had a late afternoon lunch. We chose to have the 2 course menu of the day and it was all gorgeous; great mushroom soup cut with parsley oil and warm crusty roll followed by chicken and chorizo linguine with sourdough garlic bread and a big pot of tea. Very competitively priced. Well done! A gem of a bistro - highly recommend it - go!

13/10/2025: Amazing place, proper pub, great staff and the music was legendary.

10/10/2025: Wonderful pub with good live music and great food. I had the Irish beef burger, which tasted really great. Unfortunately, I had to be rushed to the hospital the next day. I had to recover from severe food poisoning, which caused violent cramps. I can't say for sure whether it was caused by the burger and I don't want to attack anyone here. Nevertheless, I wanted to share my experience and, until the moment I first vomited the following day, it was one of the best-tasting burgers I've ever had. I hope I am/was the only one with such an experience.

17/09/2025: Return visit and it’s lovely to see that nothing has changed. Top service amazing food. My husband had the pan seared Seabass and I had probably the best steak I have ever had. The desserts were also amazing. Sorry I didn’t get the name of the lady and gentleman that served us. Literally nothing would be too much trouble. Look forward to my next visit.

09/10/2025: Didn't eat, so can't rate that experience. A typical Dublin pub, full of nooks and crannies. A nice pint of Guinness there, though.

20/10/2025: We had a truly memorable evening at Powers Bar in Oughterard! The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming, but what really stood out was the delicious dinner and top-notch service. The menu showcases the best of local produce, and the highlight for us was the fresh local fish, cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality — it’s clear they take pride in supporting local suppliers. The seafood was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and generously portioned. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm — the kind of Irish hospitality that makes you feel right at home. Staff were happy to share recommendations and made sure everything was just right throughout the evening. If you're in Oughterard and looking for a great meal in a relaxed, traditional pub setting, Powers is an absolute must. We'll definitely be back!

Breakfast was delicious, and our evening night-cap was the perfect end to a long day of adventuring in the west coast of Ireland. Every one of staff was so kind, welcoming, and hospitable... It is no wonder this spot is so well loved and respected by locals and tourists alike!
