14/09/2025: This place, oh my! We stopped here on our way from the airport. I'm so glad we chose this restaurant, staff were lovely, atmosphere is great, food was SENSATIONAL! Chefs really out done themselves. We had the shrimp & crab and the grilled prawns to start, Ribeye, Korean chicken and Parpadelle Verde for main and the raspberry tart & chocolate fondant for dessert. I could talk about the food here all day, but you have to try for yourselves. Horse & Hound you outdone yourselves! Thank you for a wonderful experience 🧡

12/10/2025: I was really disappointed with my visit. The portion sizes were small, and the food came out cold. We tried to flag someone down to mention it, but no one seemed available or attentive. I understand it can get busy during the lunch rush, but the experience was frustrating and left me pretty annoyed. Not what I would expect from a popular establishment. At least the portion of beans gave me a laugh. Would not recommend or return

04/10/2025: loviest place ever. went there upon seeing all the reviews raving about how good this place is. and it’s safe to say it definitely met those standards. their spice bag is not those kind sprinkled with seasoning but instead it’s drenched in sauce. had a nice salty & sweet & spicy taste to it and you can definitely taste how it was made to order. to top it off, when we requested to change the chicken tenders to popcorn chicken after we saw everyone raving about it, the ladies at janet’s gave us half a portion of the popcorn chicken on the house. thank you janet’s for making our night and we look forward to coming back!

16/10/2025: Really disappointing experience. My partner and I wanted to treat ourselves to a nice meal on a recent trip to Galway and the menu looked ideal. In fairness the starters were both really nice (hence the 2 stars), although they were a bit tight with the crab however it was the main courses that were the biggest let down, in particular with the descriptions on the menu. I ordered the crispy haddock with patatas bravas and it was nothing more than glorified fish and chips. The potatoes were simply small wedges that were bone dry. My partner ordered the scallop gratin with bisque and unfortunately there was very little bisque and no part of the dish could be described as gratin. When the waiter came and I asked if everything was ok with our food, I gave some honest, but very polite feedback and from that moment he became very defensive and his attitude immediately changed. Unfortunately it put a sour end to the meal and we quickly asked for the bill. I wouldn’t return nor recommend.

02/11/2025: This is an eye opener in Eco and Agri Tourism as we witnessed how they harvest Peat land and how they contribute to the entire Eco system with dedicated hard work. We met Jim, son and daughter, Mr An Neantog and his loyal sheep dog Jane, but the co- owner Jim's wife Catherine was away in Shanghai whom an Eco/ Agri Tourism Award recipient. Had lunch, freshly baked scones and their own Irish Coffee with whiskey and cream served by wonderful, friendly staff with a smile on face always. How Mr An Neantog harvesting the peat was amazing with careful consideration of the future generations. His loyal sheep dog Jane is always by his side for the command. We were very fortunate with the weather to see how Jane was rounding up sheep and keep them on their toes for Jane's next reaction. This is a huge 1600-acre farm plus another over 5000-acre common land adjoining the farm. We respect their dedication towards our Nature and Eco Habitat.

10/10/2025: This was my favorite experience in Ireland. The farm was so warm & inviting. We enjoyed a wonderfully informative & entertaining sheep dog herding demonstration, got lots of pets in w/ the pups when they weren't working and enjoyed a delicious intimate dinner in a beautiful candle lit setting w/ live music. I would go out of my way to come back here again.

20/10/2025: The food here was great! The fish tasted very fresh, and our waitress, Alison M. was incredible. At the end of dinner, when we asked for other local recommendations, she took the time to write down a well thought out list of near by breakfast/dinner options for the remainder of our vacation. She was a great host and I will definitely plan to come back next time we are in Galway.

14/10/2025: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had my partner’s surprise 40th birthday here over the weekend, and it was absolutely amazing! The venue was perfect for our group of around 50 people — just the right size and such a lovely atmosphere. I was dealing with Niamh in the lead-up, and she couldn’t have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, and she made the whole planning process so easy. The food on the night was fabulous — the platters were huge and everyone was raving about how good everything was! They even let us bring in our own trad music, which made the night really special. The whole team were so friendly and accommodating from start to finish. I couldn’t recommend this place highly enough for any celebration — we’ll definitely be back!!

04/10/2025: We were here with six people, didn't make a reservation, and were seated immediately. The service was a bit slow; we had to ask to be seated. We also had to go to the bar to pay because no one was there to serve us. The food was delicious – the fish and chips are highly recommended; it was truly delicious! Crispy breading, and the remoulade sauce was flavored with cucumber and radish.

13/10/2025: STEER CLEAR My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to dinner at Sole, but to say we left disappointed is an understatement. Oysters were great, but the crab claws as an appetizer and in his pasta tasted so bitter and old I remarked to him something like “I hope we don’t get food poisoning”. On top of that, the food was bizarre as I got scallops and mashed potatoes thinking it would come with the scallops pan seared on top of the mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the scallops were chopped into bits and mixed in with the potatoes then served in the scallop shell. It was all bland and felt like anyone could make it. My boyfriend’s pasta was equally misguided as it lacked again, all seasoning or flavor and was very clearly regular box pasta— something we could have made ourselves. The good news is the prices are not astronomical so this felt disappointing, but not like a total rip off. However, Dublin has some amazing restaurants and this does not come close to the quality at other places.
