The best restaurants

07/03/2026: We came here with an organized tour. 33 people. This was an experience we won't forget! Had never slept inside a castle before. I would love to do this again.

28/02/2026: I am speechless??? I love a classy, upscale stay, but this was otherworldly. If anything else ever tops it, I'm convinced I'll have died and gone to heaven. The service was the best I've ever experienced. Richard greeted us cheerily and carried in all our bags, valet parked our car, and happily retrieved a few small items we'd left in the car door and brought them to our room. We were given a full tour of the room, and my boys were *thrilled* to see candy and stuffies waiting for them on the bed. At dinner in the Thomand, Matthew commented on the view from our room and greeted my boys by name. We were seated and cared for as though we were royalty. They surprised us and brought chocolate cake, complete with a candle and "happy 9th birthday" beautifully written in icing, and the server sang to my son during dinner! We were driven to and from the pool in the adjacent building whenever we wished, the rowboats on the pond are complimentary to use, and our falconry experience with Jack was a once in a lifetime experience we will treasure. Of course the castle and grounds itself are enchanting. A winding drive past gnarled, aged oak trees and a glistening pond set the tone for the stunning castle set behind them. It's beautifully furnished, landscaped, and decorated. The rooms strike a lovely balance of functionality, class, and welcoming warmth. I hope another Dromoland stay is in my future. :)

21/02/2026: We had a great meal at Goldie. An early dinner slot made for a quiet relaxing experience. In the background one can see and hear the constant thrum of the team at work in the open kitchen. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. Both the pan fried Megrim and John Dory were exceptional. The highlight was the Rossmore Rock Oyster Pate starter - in truth we'd never come across oyster pate previously but it was Wow. A must have. We were pointed at an excellent Portuguese white wine (made from the Arinto grape). By way of constructive feedback - I understand the need for restaurants to maximise returns from the wine list. I bought a case of the same wine for €13 per bottle all taxes and delivery included. Goldie charged €47 before service charge. That is quite a markup, and was one of the cheapest wines on the list. Putting that minor quibble aside we had a very pleasant evening and will return. Highly recommended.

03/02/2026: Was going through some old things, found a signed cookbook that my husband and I were given by the owners of this restaurant back in 2014 when we visited on our honeymoon. We were just a couple of kids and didn’t have reservations, but we were treated like royalty. I don’t remember what we ate, but I do remember it was the best food we had in Ireland!

19/03/2026: Just a great little find. One flight of stairs up and you’re in for a treat. The staff is warm and friendly. Our server picked out the roti as a starter for us and it was amazing. The decor is simple and elegant with beautiful paintings on the walls reflecting the heritage of their dishes. They close at 9pm so don’t leave it too late. 3 people, 2 drinks, 1 starter and 3 entrees added up to €65. Great value for great food. Right in the heart of downtown Galway.

11/03/2026: Well worth the 3 hour drive from Dublin as soon as you land into Ireland. From the simple drive-up leading up to the walk-up into the restaurant, you're instantly immersed into this restaurant. The inside is cozy and warm. Feels like a cabin but much more intimate. Plenty of courses with a couple of standouts but also a couple of bad dishes, such as the one with fish. But overall this was a great way to start a vacation is Ireland

11/03/2026: Delicious cocktails, great food, warm service by a team of pro servers. We ordered the halibut special, ribeye, chips, and fried smoked trumpet mushrooms. This was the best meal we've had in our 3+ weeks in Ireland! Listen to your server's recs. We took his suggestions and found we'd ordered the perfect amount of food! Our plates were clean after we finished, but we didn't leave overly stuffed. He also let us taste a few wines before committing to our choices. Highly recommend but reservations are a must, even during the slower months. Also recommend sitting at the end of the bar if you're a foodie who enjoys watching the chef cook and plate your meal!

08/12/2025: My first, but DEFINITELY not my last, time in this joyous oasis of calm in a very frisky part of Dublin. (Artwork, both hanging & sculpture, is so beautifully curated and personal, btw, that it is a big part of the experience). I had the full Irish breakfast made to my personal specifications with no fuss whatsoever (apart from my own). When I changed my mind about the pot of tea, it was removed from both my bill and from my table! (Now that's class! 😎). The orange juice (and indeed apple, I did notice) is high-end pre-bottled, and served to one's preferred temperatures. Staff were uniformly kind and warm, as WELL as attentive and genuine. The owner/proprietor is obviously a gentleman. As previously stated, I do indeed intend to be back for this "breakfast of kings" (which actually served as my own breakfast/my late lunch AND as my early dinner, so generous were the portions on what was a very busy day). Amazingly: MANY other types of foods/meals/snacks/sandwiches/cakes/etc. are also available here! 😲 N.B.: Tem atendiamento em português 🇧🇷 também! 😎 PS.: "NOTA DEEEEEEZZZzzzz" (na voz do Carlos Impérial)!
