08/12/2025: My first, but DEFINITELY not my last, time in this joyous oasis of calm in a very frisky part of Dublin. (Artwork, both hanging & sculpture, is so beautifully curated and personal, btw, that it is a big part of the experience). I had the full Irish breakfast made to my personal specifications with no fuss whatsoever (apart from my own). When I changed my mind about the pot of tea, it was removed from both my bill and from my table! (Now that's class! 😎). The orange juice (and indeed apple, I did notice) is high-end pre-bottled, and served to one's preferred temperatures. Staff were uniformly kind and warm, as WELL as attentive and genuine. The owner/proprietor is obviously a gentleman. As previously stated, I do indeed intend to be back for this "breakfast of kings" (which actually served as my own breakfast/my late lunch AND as my early dinner, so generous were the portions on what was a very busy day). 08/05/2026: The restaurant is conveniently located beside a parking area, making it extremely accessible and eliminating the difficulty of finding street parking. It is less than a three-minute walk from the parking lot, which added to the overall convenience of the experience. Most importantly, this was genuinely one of the finest dining experiences I have had in my life. My mother and I visited while on vacation to celebrate her birthday after the restaurant was highly recommended by our Airbnb hosts, and it exceeded every expectation. I ordered the duck, while my mother chose the chicken, and both dishes were exceptional. In nearly 40 years of travel and dining experiences, I can confidently say the quality of both the food and service ranks among the very best I have encountered. Although I was unaware that reservations were required, the staff graciously accommodated us despite my oversight. Their professionalism, kindness, and attentiveness made the evening especially memorable. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor, with food that was both refined and comforting. The desserts were perfectly balanced and not overly sweet, and the wine selection was outstanding. From the cuisine to the hospitality, every aspect of the experience was exceptional. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. Thank you to the entire staff for providing such a memorable evening — it was truly appreciated.

30/03/2026: Made reservation online to have dinner here. They require a card and will charge a fee for cancellations. Service in the restaurant was excellent. They brought us to our table immediately, offered to store our coats, served water immediately. After we ordered food, we were served some canapés which were delicious. We ordered crispy fishcakes to share, duck breast and the slow cooked beef cheek bourguigion. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. 💯

10/05/2026: Absolutely amazing experience! The food was incredibly delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming, making the whole evening even more special. A huge thank you to the staff for being so attentive, friendly, and professional throughout our visit. The service was truly outstanding and made us feel very comfortable and appreciated. We will definitely be coming back again and will gladly recommend this place to all our friends!

03/05/2026: What can I say that hasn’t been said by other reviewers? I was brought here by a Collette Ireland Tour and if you want the quintessential Ireland Pub Experience, you’ll definitely want to hit this place. It’s got the look, the feel, and although I’m not sure what you’ll experience while there (our stop featured stew and a musician), you’ll walk outta there with a smile. The staff is friendly, the drinks are good and the camaraderie was everything I could have hoped for.

It has a gourmet vegetarian concept, but the atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, elegant, warm, and romantic at the same time. — the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. The tasting menu with was delicious, creative, and perfectly balanced. You can really feel the passion and attention behind every plate. It wasn’t just dinner, it was a true culinary experience that we would absolutely repeat and recommend to everyone. The staff looked after our table and took very good care of us from beginning till the ened. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and a memorable evening overall.

06/05/2026: Bizarre meal, service was professional but overbearing and favored posh customers to the point they forgot about us towards the end, not a-lot of room to enjoy the food between being asked if we enjoyed it. Food was aggressively salted with inconsistent seasoning outside of the salt. Flavor pairings were brave but misplaced, the fish was not remotely fresh and a touch overcooked. Venison salted like they wanted to keep the devil out. Had a side that tasted like bacon coleslaw from an American sports bar. Wine list was huge and had some good choices. Seating was jambed into a place that needed more thought on the layout and design. More akin to a place you pop in for an upscale meal than one you place a special occasional reservation at. All together a disappointing show from a highly regarded establishment.

26/04/2026: We had lunch at Dax and truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtful, polished, and genuinely welcoming. The wine was a standout—an exquisite Riesling from Alsace that completely won me over. It was beautifully balanced, not overly acidic, and incredibly smooth. It’s safe to say I’m now a convert. What impressed us most, though, was how attentive and accommodating the team was with our dietary needs. My husband avoids flour and sugar, and I’m lactose intolerant, gluten- and wheat-free, and don’t eat meat. The staff handled this with such care and professionalism, always making sure I knew exactly what I could eat and how each dish would be adapted. It never felt like an inconvenience to them—quite the opposite. The food itself was exceptional. The roasted potatoes were absolutely unforgettable, and the halibut was so light and fluffy we initially thought it had been steamed—it was that delicate and perfectly prepared. Service was impeccable throughout. The chef even came out to greet guests, which added a personal touch that made the experience feel even more special. We noticed every table receiving the same level of attention, with guests being warmly guided out and engaged in friendly conversation as they left. Dax delivers not just excellent food and wine, but a truly memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be back.

06/05/2026: I can't recommend this restaurant enough! With a tapas style menu, you get to enjoy several different dish types with flavors that are unique and delicious. My family and I enjoyed every dish, including the goat cheese dip, tuna (with a wonderful wasabi sorbet), surf and turf, buratta, scallops, and pork croquettes with a lemongrass sauce that was out of this world. We also enjoyed the intimate atmosphere and friendly service. All around a great pick if you get the chance!

12/05/2026: My favorite restaurant in Ireland. You can tell the owner is a true resteraunteir and the staff works very hard. You'll feel very welcomed here. I should also add that the put a lot of care into their vegan options. Great place to take my dad for a traditional boxty while I got a homemade gnocchi with a fresh pesto that was incredible. Don't skip desert!
