The best restaurants

07/09/2026: I stayed here for one night in late August. The quality and especially consistency was better than several 5-star hotels I've stayed at in Europe. My room was well-accommodated and perfectly clean. The AC (which I didn't particularly need that time of year) works very well. Bathtubs in every room is a huge plus, and is the main reason I chose this hotel. I decided to go for the breakfast buffet (17 pounds when booked the day before) and it was definitely worth it. (Typical hot breakfast items, cut fruits, yogurt, juices, pastries, and cappuccinos/any other hot beverage to-order.) The location is perfect for exploring Dublin, very centrally located (walking distance to Trinity College, St Stephen's Green, Little Museum of Dublin, Grafton St, etc.) and for anything further away, you can access public transit easily. Also, the airport express bus has stops close by. (But note that if you are two or more people, it is actually cheaper to get a taxi/rideshare, since the bus ticket is 15 pounds.) I managed to get a very good last-minute deal and the standard prices are a bit out of what I would normally go for, but I will very seriously consider staying here the next time I'm in Dublin because the stay was just that good! Btw, if you like sushi I highly recommend the counter service place Sushi & Go right around the corner. I have lived all over the US and it had some of the most creative and best quality sushi I've ever had. The one thing I'll note is that the hotel is next door to a homeless charity center, and there are queues of homeless people at mealtimes. However, they seemed friendly and orderly and I wasn't bothered (just surprised/confused at first.)

18/07/2026: I checked out of this wonderful hotel today following a 5 night stay with my daughter.. i cannot fault our time here. The service we received from arrival to departure was exemplary and we felt very looked after. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff are so lovely and helpful. The rooms are lovely, and fresh and cleaned daily The location is perfect for getting around. I would not hesitate to book again.

12/09/2026: We had Green 1918 cater for our crew for the week and Mel and Robert couldn’t have been more accommodating to our needs. We ordered from their takeaway catering menu and preordered directly with the team. I can’t recommend them enough!

09/06/2026: Stayed there a couple of times so far. its off the beaten track, we found it because we wanted somewhere central to stay with old friends who are dotted around the country. Food great, rooms great, bar gas a wide choice

11/08/2026: Best full Irish I've ever had. High quality ingredients used throughout! Great 80s music, which makes a big difference.

08/08/2026: Had the full Irish Breakfast and it was really good. The only small thing was when ordering I asked for the fried egg to be soft and it came out hard. I mentioned this when paying and they said oh she always does them soft and she acted like she could not care less about it when handing me the receipt.

15/09/2026: Slightly above while located in the basement. No cell phone reception which is a rare treat.

13/09/2026: Peploe's is an outstanding restaurant. We were a large party with hunger & thirst to be sated. Our waiter whose name I forget was exceptional in his attention to everyone's demands. The food served here is at a different level. Other eateries take note. I can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

27/08/2026: I've been eating at the Salmon Leap Inn for several years now, and I've always had a good experience. On my most recent visit I had crab linguine with a side of Sautéed carrots and tenderstem broccoli. The vegetable side dishes have always been good here - last summer they had some great baby courgettes that I still think about! I usually drink something from the beer and cider selection, but on this occasion I decided to try something from the cocktail menu. I had a whiskey sour that was nice and refreshing.

22/08/2026: 3 stars for atmosphere due to noise levels... but it was packed! Over all a great night

03/08/2026: Food is superb. However staff is always grumpy. Every time we come in, they seem to hate their job. I get that sometimes you can be in a worse mood but this happens every single time. No smiles. Can get quite loud in peak times. But still - their food is great and coffee is not bad either.

03/08/2026: Really disappointing experience today. My 10-year-old daughter and I drove 30 minutes to visit after seeing on Google that Hey Darling was open until 4:00pm on the Bank Holiday Monday (although it does mention that opening hours may differ). When we arrived there were still plenty of customers waiting for food, so we stood for a few minutes reading the menu together and deciding what to order. As I approached the counter, the staff member said, “Sorry, we literally just stopped taking food orders. We’re only serving drinks.” I asked if she was serious and whether they could take us as the last food order. She replied “No” in a sing-song voice with a big strained smile. After she said no, I looked at my watch and it was only 2:29pm, which means we had actually arrived a few minutes earlier. Refusing to take our order before the advertised last food order time was incredibly disappointing. What upset me most wasn’t just that we couldn’t order food—it was the lack of customer service and common courtesy. We had made a special 30-minute journey, arrived before 2:30pm, and there were still food orders being prepared. It wouldn’t have taken much to show a little flexibility and take one final order. Instead, my daughter and I left feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. Sadly, the customer service completely overshadowed what we’d been looking forward to.

11/09/2026: I've been to Ella's heaven only twice. It's a nice little place with good food and friends staff. I've also eaten at the place across the street called Jehan's heaven several times. I think both places are very nice.

09/09/2026: Must try to Turkish coffee. Along with that dont forget to have the parties. Amazing food and coffe. Have been there twice and would love to go back again.

23/08/2026: The lads are warm and welcoming such as most of Dubliners i met on my recent trip there. Wonderful coffee delivered by wonderful smiles. Nothing else needed to kick off your day innit.

20/08/2026: My friends and I stayed right across the street during our trip to Ireland, and this spot became a staple of our vacation. At least one person in our group ended up visiting every single day! The treats here are so good - baked daily, reasonably priced, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. They even had vegan options for my friend, which was a huge bonus! While I’m not a big coffee drinker, my coffee-loving friend loved their iced coffees, and I couldn't get enough of their hot chocolate. Nic, Gemma, and their entire team are incredibly kind and welcoming. Nic is hilarious and kept us laughing with his jokes every morning. They have a cute outdoor seating area and always made a point to check on us while we enjoyed our snacks. Beyond the delicious food and easy-on-the-pocket prices, their hospitality was top-tier. They kindly let us hang out for quite a while when our flight landed hours before our Airbnb check-in. Nic even helped me search high and low for a credit card I thought I’d lost in the shop (turns out it was just hiding at the bottom of my purse!). Visiting this shop was easily one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re in the area, do not skip this place! We already plan on stopping back in as soon as we make it back to Ireland. From our very first viewing, we knew straight away that Cavan Crystal was the right place for us. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere was relaxed, and everything just felt right. We left that day smiling, both thinking exactly the same thing — this is where we'll celebrate our wedding. In a panic, I rang the hotel, and without hesitation they jumped into action. They even went out to a shop to buy safety pins for me. When I arrived, Irene, the hotel manager, brought me straight to the Presidential Suite, sat me down, and calmly sewed my dress back together herself. She fixed it perfectly. She didn't just save my dress—she saved the day and settled my nerves. It's a kindness I will never forget. 💛 Jordan & Irene – Our Wedding Heroes Jordan, our wedding coordinator, was exceptional from the very beginning. Throughout the planning process, he was patient, reassuring, organised and always happy to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Every email was answered promptly, every phone call was returned, and every question we had was met with genuine care and professionalism. By the time our wedding day arrived, we had complete trust in him, knowing everything was in safe hands. He delivered a flawless day that exceeded all of our expectations. Irene was simply outstanding. She took charge with warmth and confidence, looked after our families, kept everything running perfectly on time, and made sure we were relaxed enough to enjoy every moment. She truly went above and beyond for us. From fixing my dress when I arrived to ensuring every detail of the reception ran seamlessly, she made us feel completely cared for. ✨ The Wedding Day The ballroom looked absolutely stunning. The food was incredible. The service was first class. Every member of staff was friendly, professional and genuinely invested in making our day special. Our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was, how attentive the staff were, and how smoothly everything ran. What really stood out was that the exceptional service didn't end when the music stopped. The following morning, the same warm welcome, professionalism and attention to detail continued. Whether it was breakfast, checking in with our guests, or simply taking the time to ask how everything had gone, the staff made us feel just as valued as they had the day before. 12/06/2026: Have never stayed in a room in the Crystal, but have attended baby sensory classes, popped in for a drink and even got married there as part of the Cavan registry office services. No matter what I've been in for, the staff are always wonderful, courteous and helpful! Today in particular our car died following a sensory class in the hotel and the lovely chap on reception (sorry I didn't get your name) called Freddy from Maintenance to see if he could help. We got the car going quickly and super appreciate how helpful and sympathetic everyone was as we had a small baby in the car too. This only solidifies in my mind how great the crystal is and how often I'll be recommending them to friends and family ❤️

08/08/2026: Got the most amazing food here at a quieter time in the restaurant so practically had the place to ourselves. The flavours used in each course worked so well together and we got a perfect wine recommendation for what we wanted. I got octopus risotto for main course and it was cooked to perfection. Only issue was that the restaurant was a bit bright.

26/07/2026: Loveliest experience in Ireland. Wonderful cote de boeuf with the perfect combination of vegetables (brócoli & salad), giving it the perfect texture and soft/balanced vinaigrette flavours. For dessert our boy chose the white chocolate with strawberry sorbet. The basil touch, freshness and texture were and ideal combination. As a courtesy (given they heard me saying it was the one I would have chosen) they brought us the Guiness cake with cream cheese and pecans. Simply amazing! Every dish and the combination of all the flavours, textures and authenticity made it the highlight of our trip! Will recommend it forever! Thank you also for the loveliest service extremely sweet while still subtle.
