18/10/2025: Went in here recently with my partner to eat and have a drink. The host was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly and seemed like she just wanted to get rid of us as soon as we got in. I've had another bad experience here previously. I don't recommend it.

17/10/2025: Visiting from the states and popped in for a late lunch. Absolutely the best meal I’ve had out in years. I’ve worked in the industry and fine dining most of my adult life. This was top tier food, laid back atmosphere, and delightful service. You’re crazy if you don’t check this place out. The seabass, the risotto, the banana ice cream- all perfect.

17/09/2025: I loved this bar. The oysters were divine. I slurped them down and when one fell on the floor I still ate it! I can’t stop talking about this place to people on my outer circle. I would never recommend to friends and family though because I like to be on the “IN” and prefer for them to be on the “OUT”. This is a dynamic that works for all of us.

12/09/2025: We went to Ruibin for a date night and had a great experience. We ordered a couple of "tapas" dishes and shared 5 betweent the two of us.

13/10/2025: We visited Clarkes Bar a few days ago and had the most amazing experience! I’m a big Niall fan and the staff were so welcoming, taking me around the place and showing me all there was to see. Even my partner (who isn’t a Niall fan) loved the atmosphere of the place, we will definitely be coming back when visiting Ireland again!

05/10/2025: The Best Italian Pizza in Ireland! This is a big claim, but I stand by it. Fine is owned by an Italian family, and the Pizzaiolo (pizza maker) is born and bred in Naples, the heartland and birthplace of pizza. I’ve lived for decades in Italy, and my wife and son are Italian, so I know what real Italian pizza is and I have found it in Athlone! The real deal. Long fermentation, proper dough shaping to keep the air, and 100% Italian ingredients this is REAL Naples Pizza!! Fine has done the impossible, bringing a piece of Italian land to Athlone. It feels like stepping back into Italy without the cost of the flight. Everything is 100% authentic and homemade. If something runs out, he stops he never substitutes, real Italians never compromise with food. Fine doesn’t stop with the pizza. Every day they make homemade Italian desserts, as well as focaccia and sometimes lasagna and other dishes. The lunch menus change and evolve, just like in a genuine trattoria in Italy. As with any real trattoria, they have limited space and ingredients, so I’d advise booking for pizza to avoid disappointment. Everything is made fresh, not only is it delicious, it’s also healthy! When it’s finished, it’s finished, that’s part of the magic. This was an amazing find for me and my family. It’s lifted our spirits and made my son feel as if we’re back in Italy. We look forward every Saturday to our little trip “home,” thanks to Fine! If you want to take a trip to Italy, just walk up the main street in Athlone and you’ll step right into the culinary heart of Italy. A truly special place in the heart of Athlone! No Italian food lover can miss a trip to Fine!

15/10/2025: Coffee is 5 star. I go back every year and only try coffee there. Guaranteed a nice coffee!!! Always recommend.

14/10/2025: We visited during our honeymoon. We both got cappuccinos, which were fantastic. And two bagels. The turkey bagel and the salmon began are definitely worth trying. Costumer services was also amazing!

06/10/2025: Excellent culinary experience. The menu is creative, brilliantly executed and beautifully presented. I loved the diverse mix of flavors and textures. The courses were uniformly excellent, so it’s hard to single out winners but…I absolutely loved the cabbage tower, Coolatin cheddar custard, haddock tartlet and chocolate cremeux/blackberry sorbet dessert. I also appreciated a more measured pacing to the courses which affords a bit more breathing and conversation time between plates compared to some restaurants that seem obsessed with delivering the next course seconds after the previous course is complete. The waitstaff is approachable, personable and always in motion. I can’t recall a time when I’ve seen a higher performing front-of-the-house crew operating at their level of effectivenss or demonstrating such a cooperative, team-oriented attitude. They’re very familiar with the menu and are able to make excellent beverage pairing suggestions. They contribute to the energy in the dining room, which only has about 10 tables for 2-4pp plus a larger 8-person table for larger groups, along with about 8 seats at a shared high top and counter extension (so definitely make a reservation). A casual atmosphere and varied background music complement this Modern Michelin experience. I look forward to returning when I’m next in Dublin. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

28/09/2025: Wow! All I can say is wow. There is actually nothing I can recommend to Bastible because everything was amazing. The service was spot on. Everyone was so willing to help. Now the food is hands down the best. Each dish was different and had incredible presentation. I savored each course.

05/10/2025: A nice space with welcoming front of house. The acoustics are bad - great sound track, softly spoken staff = straining to hear. And we’re not hard of hearing. The food rotated from excellent, to good to average. The price doesn’t allow for average. The most disappointing aspect was the service. Quite rushed. Relatively unfriendly. The waiters believe that keeping to your set 2 hour slot is more important than avoiding interrupting your conversation. Tasty meal overall. I wouldn’t return.

04/10/2025: We had a really enjoyable meal at Variety Jones and would highly recommend. The restaurant is gorgeous, really cosy with a lovely atmosphere. The staff are so friendly and the sommelier gave us a lovely wine recommendation that wasn’t the most expensive wine on the list. The food was delish, portion sizes are definitely larger than most fine dining restaurants and sadly the night we dined, had no options on the main or the starter. We would 100% go back again!

02/07/2025: Durante la tormenta de nieve de 2018, disfrutamos de una cata de whisky aquí y volvimos otro día para almorzar. La experiencia con el whisky fue fantástica, aunque en aquel entonces casi nunca lo había tocado. Ahora tomo un pequeño trago de cerveza irlandesa de vez en cuando. ¡La experiencia me cambió! Estuvo genial en 2018, ¿cómo está ahora? Bueno, la antigua sala de degustación está cerrada. Si reúne a un grupo de 10 personas o paga por 10 asientos, aún puede obtener la experiencia de degustación. También tienen una experiencia de degustación abierta semanal, pero eso no encajaba con nuestro horario. Así que nos adaptamos. Mi hijo, mi yerno y yo pedimos distintos vuelos de 4 muestras cada uno. Así que teníamos 12 whiskies diferentes para probar, pero ningún experto para describirlos, aparte de las tarjetas escritas. 11 fueron ganadores y uno de ellos decidió que no queríamos volver a probarlo nunca más. En el proceso pedimos algo de comida, y también estuvo genial. El servicio fue bueno, así que en general fue otra experiencia divertida. Dos pulgares arriba. ¡6 pulgares arriba si nos cuentas a todos!

02/07/2025: Amazing bar for Whiskey!!! Booked the masterclass for a Whiskey tasting which is absolutely worthy. Greay food, good Whiskey and very interesting stories about irish Whiskey . Go there!!

07/10/2025: Super cozy cafe, very lively! Everything was delicious, the pancakes, the chai latte and the seafood casserole, very comforting. It feels good after the rain!
