23/10/2025: Bit of a con, set menu was all we were offered at €49, we had two older people who didn't want three courses, very expensive for what we got, would have been better with pub grub! Impossible to get parking too!

05/11/2025: Lovely atmosphere, superb service and great food... That about sums it up! If you're anywhere near Knock or in that area, it's worth the 10-15 minute drive to Ballyhaunis. This was our second visit and we wouldn't think of eating or going anywhere else if we want a night out or a few hours just enjoying the atmosphere of Val's Bistro. Would definitely recommend.

28/09/2025: We celebrated our son’s 4th birthday here and it was such a wonderful experience! Andra was incredibly warm and added a personal touch to everything — she listened to all our requirements and arranged the party exactly how we imagined. The Spider-Man theme decorations were amazing, and the customized buffet had a wide variety of delicious food (vegetarian only) that everyone enjoyed. With over 50 guests, the combination of indoor and outdoor seating worked perfectly and gave everyone plenty of space. The staff were caring and attentive, and all our guests left very happy. A big thank you to Moreish Pizza for making the day so special — highly recommended for parties and celebrations!

15/08/2025: We ordered the taco fries and lasagne. I was very impressed with the large portion size and the taco fries were marvelous. The interior was pretty and baby facilities were decent. Staff were helpful.

11/11/2025: I booked a table for a special occasion at this restaurant. By the end of the evening, we really enjoyed our food and environment. My wife told me that food is much better than what we had in Barcelona on holiday. This is not a basic place for us so it can be considered as a bit pricey but according to our experince it was worth it. The staff were amazing and very kind.

09/11/2025: Truly awful, not recommended, we ruined our evening. There's nothing Spanish about it, never seen spicy patatas bravas, poor service, cramped space, and everyone packed together. Rude owner, exorbitant prices for tiny portions. Spanish food is definitely not local.

23/09/2025: If you're not getting your chipper stuff from Macaris after a nice pint in Lee's, I don't know what yer doing. The best chipper run by the best folks. Everyone should use this place as a template going forward.

24/11/2025: Visiting Ireland for the first time, and our tour guide recommended this pub to get some food and drinks. This place is older than the US Constitution! I had a delicious Irish Angus burger, with a homemade red ale called The King's Head Blood Red which had the slogan "This will keep its head, unlike a certain king!" The chips (fries) were not really seasoned, but the waitress gave salt, pepper, and ketchup beforehand. We were helped by Molly, who I thought was strikingly pretty (has nothing to do with the review, but fun to mention). In fact all the staff were easy on the eyes! If you want a drink, there is a proper bar area, but if you want to eat there is a bistro you will need to find the door to in the bar area.

03/10/2025: I can only agree with the hotel restaurant, which I've never tried. The atmosphere is welcoming and decidedly Irish. After a brief period of confusion, a young Italian (in Ireland) with immense talent returns to manage the kitchen, and he will surely be able to bring this splendid Northern Ireland restaurant to life!

24/11/2025: Excellent coffee and efficient service. The staff are young, friendly and have a great taste in music! In the morning the place is bright and offers a lovely place to sit or to just to pick up your coffee and go.

30/11/2025: From start to finish we were really impressed with this hotel. Beautiful old wordly decor and atmosphere. Hotel organised taxi for us to go to the TLT. Fantastic friendly staff. We had a beautiful dinner and breakfast served to our table. We would come back definitely. A lovely experience and we highly recommend this hotel.

23/10/2025: What a fabulous spot! Lovely atmosphere, relaxed and cosy. First time here although my son has been encouraging me for a while! We booked on-line which was very straightforward. We parked directly outside the Lodge itself. Parking there is limited enough and tight for turning. There is also the option of parking on the main road and walking up steps (maybe 15). There's an outside area which would be a great spot on a sunny day or well wrapped up. You can see the kitchen from there. You step inside to a bar area where you are warmly welcomed and directed to your table. There are various combinations of seating available. We sat at a high table for two. Menu is mainly curries and burgers but also battered fish and chips. The cuisine is very authentic so the curries are full of flavour and spice. It was too hot for my palate but I blame myself for not checking and requesting it with less heat. The flavour was amazing though. My oh's fish and chips was good. We shared a Malva dessert which was delicious. I had a ginger beer, very refreshing, and my oh had a glass of French Sauvignon Blanc which was excellent and perfectly chilled. Service was attentive and professional. Our bill came to 67 euros. Just to note that sides for the curries are extra. Beautiful location and setting. Great amenity for the local area and beyond. Well worth a trip there. Enjoy.
