04/11/2025: Beautiful place, it truly embodies the Irish spirit, with plenty of space and floors to share with friends, partners, and family. It has a wonderful bar with live music for dancing and enjoying yourself—highly recommended.

20/08/2026: The food was excellent . Coffee ok. Sat at a window seat. However there were disposable cups napkins crumbs etc left by previous diners that staff did not remove in the 40 minutes we were there, we moved them to one side. The Coffee is a bit expensive. Nonetheless a great premises, friendly staff and atmosphere 👌

18/08/2026: You can tell a good place, by the queues. I go here once a week and the food, service and quality can not be faulted. If you are visiting Laois anywhere it’s worth the spin to try the food, and the pastries.

15/07/2026: Update: Really disappointed to have to update my initial review. After eating here for the 4th time and ordering the same dish “soup and sandwich” which is listed as (ALWAYS Gluten free) I was told that they would have to switch out the bread with gluten free bread. I always order it as “can I get the gluten free soup and sandwich and have never been told about the bread before. Which confused me for a menu item listed as “Always” gluten free ?? I clarified at the counter and it was confirmed that the always gluten free dish is actually only gluten free upon request which is what should actually be written on the menu. I am Coeliac and although I don’t get violently sick - eating gluten poisons my body and effects all aspects of my health for months after being glutened, it’s so hard to find places that make me feel safe to eat out and I’m just devastated to find that my favourite place has been glutening me. I cannot understand the logic behind advertising a dish as Always gluten free when half of the dish is not !! Be aware any coeliacs that might get caught out here.

14/07/2026: Great lunch today. Friendly and smiling service. Quality products. We were even offered small smoothies with our order. Highly recommended!

16/07/2026: Did not eat but beautiful pub would highly recommend, great location just before the madness of the city on Baggot street junction before the bridge. They have tall tables, regular tables, booths and an outdoor smoking area upstairs. Really friendly manager/owner/doorman,barmen they have very respectful and professional staff who really know their locals but are also very friendly to strangers 🥰Has a charming lil piece of history for any one who's interested, the have created a Brendan Behan snug/corner where you can sit & enjoy a drink where he used to💚🤍🧡💚🤍🧡*I would say very family friendly but maybe not on big match days😃

20/08/2026: Got 3 ALL IN Burgers with chips and honestly, everything was top tier! 🍔🔥 The burgers are unreal - full of flavour and cooked to perfection. And the chips are proper old-school: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and absolutely delicious Fair play to Shokunin Burger Man for keeping the menu simple and straightforward and just doing it extremely well. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in what he does Highly recommend giving this place a go if you’re in Tramore 👌🍔

19/09/2026: Went around lunchtime. Proper Irish pub with locals prices and large range of beer and ales. Great staff and good location. It was fairly quite until we arrived!

13/09/2026: My husband and I were visiting Killarney from Boston, and saw the Mad Monk and their fabulous menu while walking around the city. Could not get a reservation for our first night, but got one for the second night. Our waiter Sean was wonderful. We split the local oysters and each had the sea bass with the squid ink risotto. This was an outstanding dish. We eat a lot of fish at home, and this was a dish to remember. The table next to us also ordered it on our recommendation. We had cocktails, wine with dinner. The entree and a lovely side salad. If you are a fish/ seafood lover, make sure to eat at the Mad Monk while in Killarney!

13/09/2026: This review is based on my experience of the place, service and food served. It was fully booked so we had to sit outside so the atmosphere of the restaurant is not judged here. The waitress must have been relatively new. She forgot the main course for two people in the party and I never got the spoon I asked for. I had oysters as a starter and halibut as a main course. The oysters were super fresh and the halibut was amazing and it was a really big portion too, really really good!

11/09/2026: The food is reheated frozen food straight from the microwave. The plates are scorching hot, even for tortellini, which aren't meant to be cooked in the oven or microwave on a plate. The chicken wasn't very good, and the mashed potatoes were also reheated and probably a ready-made product. The only thing that was okay were the cheese and garlic potatoes. The place is like a nursing home, with its chairs, tables, and plates. It's cafeteria-style decor and cafeteria food. If the food were at least decent, the decor wouldn't matter. For these prices, the whole experience is truly awful. The service was okay, but I only gave it one star to keep the overall rating at one star… Don't go there!

24/08/2026: Was good quality. Portion size was alright, price is quite good for dublin i guess. If your good at building a bowl you could get really good food here. Just one thing...please offer your customers a spoon for culterly, bro that fork not built for a bowl. Spoons are so much better and superior

28/08/2026: We had dinner as a family, the meat was exquisite, and the service was very attentive. A very pleasant atmosphere. 👌

10/08/2026: Superb French restaurant right in the heart of Galway. The gratin dauphinois accompanying the meat dishes is divine! The cooking is perfectly executed, and the art of French dining is upheld. It's a shame we had to choose between the gratin and the vegetables; a selection of both on the plate would have been a real bonus. The desserts are made by a neighboring pastry shop and are of a high standard.

26/07/2026: Great great atmosphere. Really nice owners. Food is meh !!! Portion sizes are good but the chef lacks the skills if I was being honest.
