Herbert Park Hotel
Dublin
08/06/2026: This is an excellent 5 star hotel with large guest rooms and exemplary food. The evening choices were outstanding and breakfast buffet had many alternative choices.
Service was all right too.
15/05/2026: Nice location adjacent to a large and peaceful park, walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and businesses.
In my stay for a week, it was mostly quiet except for a commotion involving hotel staff loudly conversing right outside my door one night.
The room was fine, until I happened to take a bath the last day of my stay. The bathwater was BROWN. Checking the sink, it was too. Not brown enough to notice in a glass, but my goodness, I'd been drinking that all week. Hotel staff that night said it just happens sometimes and is safe. Hotel staff the next morning said it was due to construction work, and the plumbers thought it might happen but didn't know where or when.
Breakfast was pretty good. Staff was also pretty good.

The Art of Coffee
Dublin
17/05/2026: Went in for an oat milk latte. The service was quick, efficient, and friendly. The location is a little off the main street but worth the short walk.
The food looked good, but I did not try it so can’t comment.
07/04/2026: My favourite spot for coffee in the city! Anytime I'm up from Belfast I like to go here. Staff are lovely, traybakes are beautiful and coffee is perfect.

Vintage Lane Cafe
18/07/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
An absolute hidden gem! We had a wonderful experience at Vintage Lane Café. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious, and the coffee was excellent.
One thing we especially loved was the music. It was so much fun watching the chef dancing while cooking and setting the rhythm for the whole kitchen. You could see the great teamwork between the chef and the waitress, and their positive energy made the atmosphere even more enjoyable.
We were also traveling with our dog Elmo, who was warmly welcomed and immediately provided with fresh water. It’s those thoughtful little touches that make a place truly special.
To finish, we tried the cakes, and they were absolutely delicious. If you’re passing by, this café is definitely worth stopping for.
I travel a lot and visit many cafés, so I have plenty to compare it with. Vintage Lane Café is one of those places I would happily return to anytime. Highly recommended!
12/07/2026: Lovely spot. Gluten free BLT was delicious!

The Tram Café
Dublin
09/07/2026: I went there with my girlfriend three times while we were in Dublin. We really enjoyed the ambiance, hot chocolate, food, good service and friendly staff.
28/06/2026: Great atmosphere, very enjoyable coffee and dessert options with fast service even when relatively busy, although unfortunately the food seems to be served in prepackaged portions, while certainly forgivable given industry conditions it seems prone to being served very near the end of its shelf life even when stale and very nearly inedible. (see photo, taken hours from expiry) Particularly the Caesar salad containing what can be only assumed to be donkey 🫏 elbow (possibly crouton?)
Also worth mentioning were the various critters (spiders 🕷️ and ladybug 🐞 see photos) running laps around my brownie. This was very entertaining but the spider and his compatriot were incessant and very bothersome. Although it is uplifting to see such rich biodiversity within the city centre.
Altogether still would absolutely definitely recommend to any café enjoyer. Perhaps just for the drinks selection.

15/07/2026: Paula has made this pub a great experience. Your observations and advice have helped us perfectly. She is a first-class professional, friendly and efficient. The Irish Guinness Stew with Crispy Puff Pastry is very good. The music is non-invasive and the bathrooms are clean. Thank you very much, kennedys and your team, thank you Paula!

Parkgate Coffee

15/07/2026: Hot Chocolate was unreal. Never had such a hot chocolate anywhere else. Would highly recommend. Only downside is that there is no seating area.
04/07/2026: Coffee was nice. Traybakes had mostly gone by the time I ordered.
Small place, no toilets but public ones 5mins walk away. Benches outside are the only seats available. Otherwise walk 2mins to the park and enjoy al fresco coffee.

Gaynor's Pu
05/07/2026: Among the best soups I've tasted in Ireland. For lunch, they offer typical Irish pub food like soup or sandwiches. The lady serving was very kind.
